Dance and Theatre Photographer *
Courteney is a British theatre and dance photographer whose work is rooted in a long-standing engagement with performance. From an early age, she was drawn to theatre and dance as powerful forms of expression and storytelling, an interest that continues to inform her photographic practice.
Her work extends beyond the stage to include behind-the-scenes moments such as rehearsals, dance classes, and the preparations leading up to performance. By documenting these often unseen processes, Courteney captures the discipline, anticipation, and dedication that underpin both theatre and dance.
Through her photography, she seeks to convey the transient and immersive qualities of live performance. Focusing on the interplay of lighting, set design, costume, and movement, she creates images that reflect both the atmosphere and emotional depth of the stage. Across her bodies of work, Courteney explores visual storytelling through the language of the body, using gesture and form to communicate narrative and emotion.
Her practice aims to translate the full experience of performance—both on and off stage—into still imagery, preserving moments that resonate with authenticity, artistry, and the enduring magic of theatre and dance.
In 2024, Courteney worked with The Platform Theatre at Rugby College, Bare, Citizenship, the kids’ theatre, the in-house Level 3 showcase and The Witches of Eastwick. (2024-2025)
